Meet the Team
We have a wonderful team at Purdy & Power, we have always made sure our staff under go all the necessary training to acheive amazing results for our customers.
Sara – Salon Owner & Master Colourist
I have owned Purdy & Power for 15 years and have over 25 years’ experience in the industry, covering every aspect of hairdressing. In 2012 I qualified as a Wella Master Colourist Expert a prestigious accolade which gives me the equivalent to a degree in colour. During my career I constantly update and refresh my skills and techniques by attending numerous courses in London for colouring, cutting, barbering, perming and blow drying. Hairdressing like most professions never stands still, with new ideas, fashions and techniques changing continually I have to be aware and knowledgeable. The most memorable course I attended was being taught to dress long hair by the famous Patrick Cameron which really enhanced my confidence and skill especially when dressing bridal hair. When you make an appointment with me, I promise to take special care and pride in your hair. Following a comprehensive consultation, I will furnish you with a unique look whether it be colour, cut or style. I will work with you to create a look that works for you. With my wide range of knowledge and experience I can help you with your ongoing styling and home care to keep the style looking great until your next visit. I look forward to meeting you very soon.
Gabriella - Owner
It’s my job to inspire the team and to ensure that the staff and the salon grow and stay up to date and successful. We as a salon take pride in continuous training, in house and externally to keep our skills sharp and the staff passionate about their profession. Following the ‘Covid Lock Down’ I believe that the general public now have a healthy respect for their hairdressers after trying to it themselves or having to wait until we opened. I am so very proud of what the company has grown into and what our fabulous team have achieved over the years.
Alanis – Salon Manger, Master Colourist & Hair Extension Specialist.
Hairdressing is a family profession and I can’t remember a time I didn’t want to be a hairdresser. Growing up and watching my mum Sara is what inspired me to become a hairdresser. I have previously worked in Verbier, Switzerland in a five-star award winning hair salon over two Ski Seasons, clientele from across the world. Education has always been one of the most essential factors of hairdressing: I love to learn new skills and extend my knowledge. I trained and qualified in Easilocks & Beauty Works Hair Extensions and very proud to have become one of the youngest Wella Master Colour Experts, a qualification that provides the highest achievers in colour work with skills that range from in-depth understanding of colour correction, to insights into the psychological effects created by hair colour choices. Hair colour is my passion, I believe that the essence of great hair colour is first rate advice and crucially a thorough consultation. You wear your hair everyday – it’s our main accessory, so I love to know that I have made each of my clients feel good about themselves, that makes my day and that’s why I became a stylist.
Mandy - Style Director
My dream at the age of 13 was to become a professional hairdresser. I have been lucky enough to have been given the that opportunity in many different posts at prestigious hair salons in Essex and Kent. My career spans over 36 years and during this time I have always been happy to get up and go to work, I love the people and have made some very special friends. One of my passions is for creating bridal hair styles. I really enjoy being part of their special day and easing the brides stress by creating her vision for the perfect day. Bridal work can be stressful but by working with the bride and the hair team we aim to reduce that anxiety and help her enjoy the experience. Being a hairdresser gives you the opportunity in finding a new look for somebody especially for those who may have hair loss through illness or trauma. Putting a smile on a client’s face makes me happy. I love being a part of Purdy & Power and imparting my knowledge to enable young and upcoming stylists to achieve.
MaryAnne - Senior Stylist
It’s amazing that finding the right career can increase your confidence and happiness! I started training as a hairdresser when I left school and have qualified in my NVQ Levels 2&3. I am a very bubbly and enthusiast stylist, I love a chat and getting to know my clients and building a relationship with them. I truly enjoy all aspects of hairdressing but have a real interest in colouring and styling from poker straight to the perfect curl. I enjoy the consultation with the client taking in account their eye colour, skin tone and personality. It’s a great job for those of us that are creative and means we are able to try new colour techniques and styling products. I have been able to attend many courses at Wella Professional Studio in London giving me the opportunity to keep improving and staying up to date with the latest trends. Whether you just want a trim or something completely new, I’m here to help.
Rosie - Junior Stylist
Whilst growing up I just knew I wanted to be a hair stylist. I joined the Purdy & Power team in 2017 as an apprentice and over the last two years I have attended Saks Academy one day a week and built my confidence learning colouring and cutting. I qualified at the end of 2019 with an NVQ Level 2 and I am really passionate about my job. I love making my clients feel comfortable and relaxed whilst doing their hair and seeing how happy they are when I’ve finished. Since I have been at the salon, I have also attended courses with Wella Professionals at the London Studio which has enabled me to explore different techniques and improve my colour knowledge. I’m passionate about all aspects of hairdressing and happy with the knowledge that I can always learn something new – it will never get boring. “I look forward to seeing future clients and making them feel pampered and glamorous."
Yazmin - Beautician
Amelia - Assistant & Nail Technician
After completing a GCSE in styling hair & beauty I realised my passion for the hair and beauty industry. I started working at Purdy & Power in November 2018 as a Saturday girl and I’ve recently started my hair apprenticeship. I work in the salon most of the week and attend Saks academy once a week until I qualify. I am also trained in CND Shellac Gel nails and am able to offer nail and foot treatments. I enjoy working alongside the stylists and learning something new from them every day which has improved my confidence enormously. I’m at the beginning of my hairdressing journey and know that I have chosen the right career for me. I am willing to learn and work hard, each day I look forward to meeting clients and making them feel as welcome and relaxed as possible.
